Beautifully honest belief in art

What the bard Jeremiah did for me, is probably the most unbelievably selfless and loving act I’ve ever experienced first hand.  Years ago, he heard me sing to him on the phone.  Immediately, he proclaimed that I had music in me, music that had to be made, and he told me he was going to do everything in his power to make that happen.  And he did.  With nothing in it for him, but to hear the music he believed I carried with me.  No one will ever understand what he did for me, as I have never seen a similar act of patronage except in history (John Keats for example lived with the financial support of his friends, who believed in his poetry).  I was raised and had spent a life completely surrounded by people who doubted me, put me down, those who strove to cut me down to size, oppressors with tall poppy syndrome.  Truly, if I had never met Jer, this music would have yet to have been made… if ever.
